European Cup : a nice 6th place for Clichy!

After qualifying in its 9-team pool, we played the 10-team all-round finals on Monday and Tuesday December 21-22. The Clichy team, led by Sarasadat Khadem Al Sharieh, obtained a nice 6th place in this extremely tough final, in particular beating the very strong Russian team UGRA which finished second. Sarasadat Khadem Al Sharieh, who played for the first time for Clichy, at the 1st board, after scoring 6.5 points out of 7 in the qualifying phase, lacked a little success in the first 2 parts of the final, but nevertheless finished with a very honorable score of 4.5 points out of 9 against an average of 2461 Elo. Alina Kashlinskaya, who was also playing for the first time in our team, flies over her opponents with a very tense game and excellent technique. She won the gold medal on the 2nd board, with an impressive score of 6.5 out of 9 (average 2423). A perfect introduction! Alexandra Kosteniuk, on the 3rd chessboard, also played great games, but paid off the fatigue of the previous tournament, finishing with a score of 4.5 out of 9 (2374). The last chessboard was occupied by Natacha Benmesbah for 7 games. The task was hard for her! She nevertheless managed to make 3 draws, 2 saves and 1 better game from start to finish. It therefore obtains an honorable score of 1.5 out of 7 against a strong average of 2370. Annaëlle Afraoui lost her 2 games. Note the good success of the French teams 3 found themselves in the final, with Monaco winning the European Cup, while Tremblay finished 8th.
